Prayer Request

THE FOLLOWING IS A PRAYER REQUEST FROM CASEY AND RENAE BRYANS AND ROBERT AND CAROL AS WELL. CASEY AND RENEA ARE ROBERT AND CAROL'S KIDS WHO ARE MISSIONARIES IN ECUADOR.  CAROL SAYS THEY HAVE TALKED TO THE KIDS AND THEY ARE OK. THEY NOW HAVE TWO ARMED GUARDS AT THE GATE OF THEIR STREET, WHICH IS GOOD.  PRAY FOR PEACE IN ECUADOR AND FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CITIZENS AS WELL AS THE MANY NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONARIES.
Please pray for Ecuador.  As I type this, we can hear gun fire between the military and police happening about a mile from our house.  The police are rioting because a law passed last night that they were not going to get bonuses.  The airports have been shut down and roads have been blocked off coming in or out of Quito.  Our kids were evacuated from school today and will not have school tomorrow.  We are home and are safe.  Please pray for peace in Ecuador and for the safety of everyone.  Crime has greatly increased because the police are protesting against President Correa and are wanting to overthrow him.  Thank you for loving our family and for your prayers for the unrest here in Quito and all of Ecuador.
Thanks,
Casey and Renae

  1. Update from Casey and Renea on 10/01/10:
Thanks for praying for Ecuador and our family. Last night the gun fire was between the military and police when the military was trying to transport President Rafael Correa from the hospital to the presidential palace. The President is safe and the military is in control of Ecuador. It is very quiet here this morning. It is still an unknown at this time, so we are told to stay in our home. We are very thankful for the security of where we live. We live on a culdesac with a gate and a 24 hour armed guard at the entrance. Yesterday they increased the guards for our street.

Thanks for praying for Luke, Jordan and Molly. Even when they could hear the gun fire, they were not consumed with fear. It was more of a curiosity. They are excited to be home today and are playing the Wii right now. We will keep you updated, but right now things look much better than yesterday. We appreciate your love, prayers, and support.
    Love,
    Casey and Renae

  2. Update from Carol on 10/02/2010:Just talked to Renae and all seems back to normal. The airport is open and buses are running. The US Embassy keeps them updated and has told them to be cautious but resume normal routines. I think they are still staying pretty close to home especially at night but it seems as if the initial scare is over. Renae asked that everyone still pray because it is still an unknown as to what will happen next. This president has been very favorable to the poor and has done good things for them like giving them health care. The Casa G guys were invited to have dinner with him a couple of years ago so they certainly love him. There are no social programs for the poor like we have in our country & the poor are pretty much looked down on and abandoned so for a president to take an interest in them has made a great impression. He has also been in favor of missionaries because they have been there to help the poor and homeless. On the other side of the coin, the prosperous Ecuadorians do not like Correa. But he has given the country a stable government for the last few years and this is the first attempt to oust him. Thank you for your continued prayers.
