Girlsfriends In Grace Gift of Grace

Don't forget "Gift of Grace," the Women's Ministry Christmas event, set for this Tuesday, November 30th, 6:30pm in the Gym.  Please bring:
~ a holiday dessert . . . we'll have tea, coffee and wassail
~ a cash donation if you wish (any amount, $5 suggested) for the money tree to benefit the church's Christmas outreach to families in need
~ a true White Elephant Gift . . . nothing new, just something around the house that would be a "blessing" (haha!) to someone else, but please wrap it prettier than it deserves!
~ a friend . . . this is a great way to include an unchurched co-worker or a friend who needs some encouragement at this time of year.

We'll have:
~ FUN, and lots of it!  Get ready to get goofy!
~ FOOD . . . hey, we're sticking to desserts only . . . there's no better dinner we can think of!
~ FELLOWSHIP . . . we're the Girlfriends in Grace . . . need we say more????
~ FOCUS on the birth of our Savior Jesus . . . it's because of him that fun and fellowship with our sisters in the Lord are possible!

Will you please pray RIGHT NOW for ROSS FLOYD....Randy and Kathy Floyd's son.  He has two more blood clots in his lung and a leg that is so severely swollen that the doctor cannot see any clear veins in.  He is in Baylor.  His Mom was with him for the weekend and he woke up this morning with his leg severely swollen and unable to breathe well.  Mom took him straight to Baylor where they are still in the ER.  Randy will be heading that way first thing in the morning....PRAY for Ross and Randy and this entire family.

GIG Go Gourmet!

Hello, everyone!
I have set up an account to type in recipes on-line.  There is a contributor option that allows people to type in recipes which can then be edited and proofed by the cookbook committee. This way people can type in their recipes if they are comfortable using the on-line system.  For those who do not want to utilize this option, recipes can still be submitted to the committee manually or via e-mail at gigrecipes@yahoo.com.  To type the recipes in the on-line system, simply go to http://www2.typensave.com/ . The login name is gigepbc and the password is gigcooks.  I have included a listing of common abbreviations to use for consistency which will display on the top of the page to add recipes. Recipe notes are an extra charge so please be aware that these will NOT be included in the cookbook.  Please forward this information to others wishing to contribute to our cookbook.  It's going to be great!  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (903) 669-3860 or email at gigrecipes@yahoo.com.
Thanks for your help, I absolutely could not do this alone!

Prayer Request

Prayer Request from Sue Scudder:

The grandson of Ronnie and Linda Baker, Creed, fell on Saturday afternoon in the gym while playing and broke the femur in his leg.  He had surgery this morning, Sunday, at Children's hospital in Dallas where they put pins in the bone and he is doing fine.  He was able to get up on Sunday afternoon and is enjoying all the attention I am sure.

Event/Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

On Saturday night, Oct. 23rd, 2010 at 6:00 pm, everyone (couples as well as singles) will have the opportunity to renew old friendships or start new ones from our church. All you have to do is sign up to bring either a vegetable, dessert, or a salad, and show up at the church at 6:00 p.m.  Your name will be drawn from one of the three separate envelopes to determine which "Host Home" you will go to with your dish.  The Host Homes provide the meat and drink, and they don't know who's coming to dinner until you show up on their doorstep.  It is a great way to get to know others in our church you may not have had the opportunity to get to know.  To sign up or for more information contact Vicki Ballard or call the church.

Prayer Request/Update

This praise report and update from Bill and Sue Scudder, about their grandson (Scott and Tracy's son) Reed:

Reed was playing in a football scrimmage back in August and tore his ACL, with a partial tear of the MCL and a bad bone bruise to his left knee.  He had surgery this past Monday, Oct. 4th.

Thank you, thank you, all you that prayed for Reed's surgery, he is at home after having it done on Monday and he will be begin his rehab today.  He is doing very well although a little grumpy from missing school and all the activities that are going on with his friends.  Praise God, the surgeon said that all went as expected and he has done his 10%  and now it is up to Reed to do the other 90 % for a full return to sports.  Thank you again for your concern and prayers.

Prayer Request

THE FOLLOWING IS A PRAYER REQUEST FROM CASEY AND RENAE BRYANS AND ROBERT AND CAROL AS WELL. CASEY AND RENEA ARE ROBERT AND CAROL'S KIDS WHO ARE MISSIONARIES IN ECUADOR.  CAROL SAYS THEY HAVE TALKED TO THE KIDS AND THEY ARE OK. THEY NOW HAVE TWO ARMED GUARDS AT THE GATE OF THEIR STREET, WHICH IS GOOD.  PRAY FOR PEACE IN ECUADOR AND FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CITIZENS AS WELL AS THE MANY NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONARIES.
Please pray for Ecuador.  As I type this, we can hear gun fire between the military and police happening about a mile from our house.  The police are rioting because a law passed last night that they were not going to get bonuses.  The airports have been shut down and roads have been blocked off coming in or out of Quito.  Our kids were evacuated from school today and will not have school tomorrow.  We are home and are safe.  Please pray for peace in Ecuador and for the safety of everyone.  Crime has greatly increased because the police are protesting against President Correa and are wanting to overthrow him.  Thank you for loving our family and for your prayers for the unrest here in Quito and all of Ecuador.
Thanks,
Casey and Renae

Prayer Request

From Debbie Keller:
My husband is scheduled for by-pass surgery on Oct 1st at 7:30 a.m. at Medical City, Dallas.  He had a triple by-pass surgery 20 years ago when was 38 after having a heart attack.  He has had numerous stints and had a 2nd heart attack about 6 1/2 years ago.  He now only has one artery that is working as the other 2 by-passes have closed up.  Dr. Brinkman(his surgeon) thinks he can at least make 1 more by-pass but there is a risk that the one that is working could colaspe when they open him up.

I am asking for prayer for David that he will make it through surgery and the surgery will be able to help him as he is getting very little blood flow to his heart right now.  Most of you probably don't know me or my husband.  Shortly after I joined, my husband started becoming ill.  We first just thought it was his heart.  In Feb of this year he was scheduled for this same surgery.  The day before we fould out he had follicular lymphoma, almost a level 4.  He then went through chemotherapy and was said to be in remission. Then they discovered his cortoid artery was blocked 81-99% so he had that surgery about 1 month ago and just recovered.  Now he is rescheduled for the original surgery from Feb.  We usually will attend chuch but he normally does not feel well enough to attend Sunday School and Church.  Hopefully in the future I will be able to attend Sunday School again.

Prayer Request

Sydney Walker (daughter of Seth and Mallory Cunningham Walker, granddaughter of Mark and Carolyn Cunningham) is 7 months old and diagnosed last week with Transverse Myelitis which is a severe inflammation of the spinal cord.  She is in Children's Medical Center undergoing treatment and they are seeing slow progress.  She is currently on a ventilator but they are working to wean her off of it.  They expect recovery to be extended and involve rehab.  Please pray for them all.  It is exhausting and expensive to have a child hospitalized out of town.  You can visit   http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/sydneywalker  to see updates and post a message to the family which they will appreciate.

Prayer Request

First Baptist Church Paris interim music minister and his wife were in a bad accident Sunday going back to McKinney where they live. He had just had the responsibility of administration added to his position and looked promising to really be a greater asset to the church. He will now be out for up to 12 weeks. He has broken ribs, broken leg, orbital injury. She has internal injuries. Has had two surgeries already for removal of part of intestines and received a colostomy (I think maybe a temporary one).  We thought at first he was worse off because he had a head injury, but it turned out to be a concussion and not a worse brain injury. But now it looks like she may be worse off because of the poisons running around in her abdomen. They are Bill and Shasta Clairborne. Please add them to your prayer list.

Prayer Request

Please pray for Ronald Hayes. He is going into surgery right now to remove his gallbladder.  Please pray for Ronald, the surgical team, as well as Kay and the rest of his family.

Prayer Request

Please pray for Molly Bryans (age 5), Casey and Renae's daughter, Robert and Carol's granddaughter. Sunday she started having tremendous pains in her legs and hips and could not walk. They have x-rayed and sonogrammed the bones and muscles, which look fine, and now have drawn blood to see if there could be an infection somewhere.  Molly and her family are missionaries in Quito, Ecuador.
